TikTok is using this viral ice cream maker to create a healthier version of the Wendy’s frosty — and now the machine is selling out
If you haven’t tried it, know that homemade ice cream tastes better than anything you’ll find in the frozen aisle at the grocery store. That’s because, like most foods, the fresher it is, the better. Plus, less time sitting in a freezer usually makes it smoother to scoop. People on TikTok realized this, and they’re loving how easy it is to make your own frozen treat using the Ninja CREAMi Ice Cream Maker.

Ninja CREAMi videos on TikTok have racked up over 468 million views, and some of the recipes people come up with look so delicious, like a dupe for Disney’s Dole Whip. However, one of the most popular Ninja CREAMi recipe videos is for a one-ingredient chocolate Frosty by @is.ketchup. In the video, which has over 2.4 million views, she tells her followers, “This is just chocolate Fairlife and it looks and tastes just like a Wendy’s frosty.”
Actually, a lot of TikTok users have been using Fairlife’s reduced fat milk and protein shakes to make healthier “protein ice cream” in their Ninja CREAMi machines. Here’s a recipe for double chocolate chip ice cream by @jennakwest5, cookie butter ice cream by @tiaaburkett and chocolate peanut butter ice cream by @logannathanson_ — all using Fairlife milk products. The Wendy’s dupe is definitely a favorite, though.
While the Fairlife products are admittedly delicious, the Ninja CREAMi is equally great. According to the product description, the brand’s “Creamerizer System” finely shaves and churns the ice particles into a creamy frozen texture in minutes. If you want your frozen treat to be softer and even creamier, you can hit the re-spin function to get the texture you like. Some TikTok users share that they re-spin their leftover pints when they’re ready to snack again.
There are three types of Ninja CREAMi ice cream makers. The Ninja CREAMi Original and the Breeze have seven one-touch buttons for making ice cream, milkshakes, sorbet, lite ice cream, gelato, smoothie bowls and adding mix-ins. Its pints hold the standard two cups, but the Breeze machine is slightly smaller and more compact.
The Ninja CREAMi Deluxe has 11 one-touch buttons — six from the original, plus slushie, Italian ice, frozen drink, Creamiccino and frozen yogurt functions. Its pints aren’t actually pints; they hold up to three cups of ice cream in each “pint.” It’s also a little bit bigger than the original.

You’ll need to plan ahead no matter which machine you choose, but that’s true with any ice cream maker. First, freeze your ingredients in the included pint containers for about 24 hours. The next day, use the Ninja CREAMi to turn whatever you froze into ice cream.
OK, here’s one small problem: The Ninja CREAMi is incredibly hard to find in stock. It’s sold out on the Ninja website and at Target and Walmart. We can’t find the Breeze anywhere, but we did find the original Ninja CREAMi on Amazon for $199.99 and the Deluxe version at Best Buy on sale for $229.99. (Best Buy also sells the original machine for $229.99. It’s $20 more at Best Buy than on Amazon, but it might ship faster.)
