TikTok’s favorite pizza maker vs. your regular oven: Which is better?

A TikToker blew viewers’ minds after revealing that a gadget could somehow make cooking frozen pizza even easier than it always is.

Matthew Hey (@mattthestateguy) answered a TikTok thread asking what is the greatest invention of all time, and Hey answered with the Presto Pizzazz Plus Rotating Pizza Oven. The video racked up over 1.2 million views.

Like Hey, I love the easiness of making frozen pizza when I’m too hungry to think about taking the time to put something together — but not enough to buy a whole gadget for pizza specifically. But since he’s dubbing this one of the “greatest inventions of all time,” I had to set out to see if the Presto Pizzazz actually makes a difference.

The Presto Pizzazz has a rotating tray that allegedly ensures even baking on both the top and the bottom of whatever you’re cooking. The heating elements are separately controlled too so you can either just use the bottom heater, the top heater or both. The timer is attached to the arm of the machine and will automatically turn off the heaters once it’s done.

To top it off, the Presto Pizzazz claims to save 60 percent more energy than using a conventional oven.

But is it really worth it?

In order to judge properly, I bought two frozen pizzas — just basic cheese — and decided to compare the experiences of popping a pizza into the oven versus using this new machine.

I’m skeptical of machines as well. I’m not that comfortable in the kitchen, and I hate reading instructions.

But the Presto Pizzazz was very straightforward. I just had to screw on the rotating plate and then plug it in. So far, for convenience, this is amazing.

The Presto Pizzazz also doesn’t require any preheating. Literally, the second you plug it in, it starts cooking. I was cheering alone in my kitchen at the revelation, especially since my specific oven doesn’t have a light to indicate when it’s done preheating, I always have to set a timer.

So far, these are two major points in favor of the Presto Pizzazz. Could a TikToker seriously be right about this?

In terms of taste, the oven-baked pizza was slightly burnt, but I don’t really care about that. It was nice to be able to see the pizza being cooked on the Presto Pizzazz, I definitely felt more in control, and, like Hey mentioned in his video, it gives you the opportunity to add toppings while it’s cooking.

Miraculously, Hey was right — the Presto Pizzazz absolutely rocks. It’s a gadget I never thought I wanted or needed, but now that I have it, I want to use it all the time.
