Tigers and Monkeys Have an Adorable Easter Egg Hunt at London Zoo

The meerkat's eggs were filled with crickets and moss.

On Wednesday, The London Zoo hosted an early Easter celebration for some of its resident animals. As part of the festivities, the zoo staff prepared giant cardboard eggs filled with treats for the Sumatran tigers, meerkats, and spider monkeys.

Watch this adorable video to see these animals enjoy their festive Easter celebration. It's just too cute.

The zoo's two 9-month-old Sumatran tiger cubs, Crispin and Zac, had a cinnamon-scented trail left by the zookeepers, which led them to their eggs. The meerkats were treated to eggs filled with moss and crickets, which doesn't sound super appetizing, unless, of course, you're a meerkat. The squirrel monkey's eggs contained sweet potatoes, corn and peas which seemed a bit more appetizing, but still not as great as Cadbury Cream Eggs.

London Zoo manager Dan Simmonds said: “While our visitors are busy on the Zoo-normous Egg Hunt – following a trail of egg-laying animal-themed clues to find the golden egg – zookeepers have stepped into the role of Easter bunny to make sure the animals don’t miss out on any of the egg-based action. “We’re always exploring creative new ways for the animals to practice their natural foraging and hunting behaviors, and Easter provides the perfect opportunity to offer up some enriching, egg-based animal activities – it’s also a great way for our visitors to learn about different animals and their natural skills.”

The whole event is too sweet for words and just gives zoo visitors a chance to see some endangered species and wild animals enjoy Easter their own special way, crickets and all!
