Tiger Woods is offering a health update to his fans after a sudden change of plans at his latest tournament.

The pro-golfer took to Twitter on Saturday, Feb. 17, to address his sudden departure from The Genesis Invitational tournament in southern California the day prior.

"I would like to confirm that I had to withdraw from [The Genesis Invitational] due to illness, which we now know is influenza," he shared on the social media platform, assuring fans that he was already feeling better with some rest.

"Good luck to the players this weekend," he added, expressing his disappointment over the turn of events and sending his thanks to car manufacturer Genesis, as well as his fans, for their support.

The PGA confirmed his withdrawal from the tournament on Feb. 16, citing an unspecified illness. Golf Week, a USA Today publication, reported that Woods only played six holes on Friday, Feb. 16 before a golf cart—in which he was spotted with his head in his hands—returned him to the clubhouse.

His competitor, Gary Woodland, said that he'd noticed Woods showing signs of discomfort prior to his departure, adding, “I feel bad for him, he wasn’t right. He definitely was trying to fight through it and I hope he’s all right.”

An ambulance was reportedly called to the scene, where it and a firetruck were seen standing by, but Woods was able to leave the clubhouse under his power, climbing into the backseat of a vehicle that departed to an unknown location.
