Tiger Shark Plays with Sea Turtle Before Swallowing it Whole in Hawaii

A lot of shark footage surfaced from Hawaii during Sharktober.

A tiger shark took a chunk out of a surfer's thigh at Pua'ena Point on the North Shore last week. Before that, a Kauai surfer fought off a 12 to 15 foot tiger shark at Hanalei Bay. There's also been numerous other shark sightings around Oahu.

The latest shark footage out of Hawaii is like a clip from Animal Planet, not far from Queen's where a huge tiger shark cruised through the lineup over the weekend.

Blayne Fujita posted the clip above yesterday and captioned it:

"Tiger shark outside of magic island eating a turtle"

The clip shows a tiger shark eating a sea turtle, but playing with its food for a while before finally devouring it.

North Shore lifeguard Mikey Bruneau asked: "How big you think the shark was? Looks huge"

Fujita replied: "It was as wide as the jet ski and probably the same length. Maybe 13ft"

Fujita followed up with another post, captioning it: "The last video I got before the shark swallowed it whole"

KITV News also reported on the incident and other recent shark sightings on Oahu, captioning the video below:

"A shark warning was sent out Tuesday morning after a shark was observed eating a turtle offshore of busy Ala Moana Beach Park."

The news outlet said ocean safety posted shark warning signs in Waikiki after multiple sharks were seen swimming off Waikiki Beach. On Monday, a shark was spotted off  Makaha, a West Side beach known for big wave surfing.

In the video, Andrew Rossiter, director of the Waikiki Aquarium, says "Sharktober" is real.

"That's because the big pregnant females from the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, about a third of the population migrate down here at this time of year to give birth.

KITV reported that ocean safety reported over a dozen shark sightings in October the state has completed its investigation for six shark bite incidents this year.
