It’s been nearly 60 years since Breakfast at Tiffany’s premiered on the silver screen, immortalizing the Tiffany & Co. brand and its New York flagship store for generations. Situated at the corner of 727 Fifth Ave., the location is a venerable landmark that has seen its fair share of foot traffic throughout the years, bringing a hefty amount of tourists who want to partake in the wondrous feeling that Audrey Hepburn’s character, Holly Golightly, effused throughout the film.

In December, the company decided to give the landmark a face-lift, which is set to be completed in 2021. So instead of closing its doors completely for two years, barring would-be Golightlys from having their moment, a temporary space opened a few doors down at 6 E. 57th St., where Niketown used to be.

The temporary space features four floors that house Tiffany & Co.’s vast assortment of luxury goods. The first carries the high jewelry offerings; the second is for the men’s line; the third is for engagement rings; the fourth is for the home and leather goods collections. All these levels are built around a central atrium with vaulted ceilings, illuminated by natural light beaming through the large windows at the entryway and featuring displays made of the brand’s iconic blue boxes.

The interim store is much more modern, using materials like stainless steel and nickel, but is staying true to the original with Art Deco cases and wood paneling that feature ornate stencils. So even if it’s not the original, you can still say that you had breakfast at Tiffany’s.
