The Queen's banquet at Buckingham Palace this evening had a dress code of black tie and traditional dress, which means the jewelry, especially the tiaras, did not disappoint.

Several royal women, including Sophie, Countess of Wessex, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Princess Anne, and the Queen herself attended the state dinner for heads of government, which was part of the ongoing commonwealth heads of government meeting.

The Queen appears to have worn her Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara to the event.

"It is with great pleasure that I welcome you all here tonight. As Head of the Commonwealth, I am delighted to be able to host this occasion in the United Kingdom, for the first time in many years," she said in a speech, addressing her guests.

"This dinner is always an opportunity for us to come together, as friends, and I am grateful that so many of you are here with us this time," the Queen said.

Another speaker, the President of Ghana suggested that the Queen would be winding down her duties as leader of the Commonwealth, making her backing of Prince Charles as her successor all the more significant.

"We’re led to to understand that she’ll be winding down her duties as Head of the Commonwealth. This toast thus takes on an added significance, for it falls upon me to express the depth of our collective regret that she will no longer automatically be present at proceedings," he said, according to royal correspondent Rebecca English.

While there was some speculation as to whether Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie would wear tiaras this evening, they appear to have skipped toppers. Perhaps they are saving their "first tiara" moment for their wedding days. Princess Eugenie will wed Jack Brooksbank this October in St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.
