CrossFit Games legend Tia-Clair Toomey has been documenting her training and nutrition as she leans down following her tryouts for the Australian bobsled team. In a new video on her YouTube channel, Toomey and her team track how many calories she burns on an average day of training, starting off with a running workout where she covers between 7 and 8 km where she uses up 528 calories.

Toomey's husband, Shane Orr, also notes that the higher an athlete's level of fitness and the more intense their training regime, the more efficient their body will become at conserving energy, burning less calories for fuel. And Toomey herself believes that your mental health and psychological mindset can have an impact on calorie burn as well as your physical activity, saying: "If you're mentally going through a lot of stress in your life or you're thinking about something that's happening in your life, that can actually be quite draining and burn a lot of calories."

After a rest period and second breakfast amounting to approximately 700 calories, Toomey then moves onto the gym for a resistance training workout including snatches, climbing, jump rope, and power cleans.

"We've done a running session, we've done some weightlifting, we've done a MetCon... and with that, I'm just over 1,500 calories. Within that, too, you can track your data with an Oura ring or a heart rate watch, and that's really cool to see that data, but I try not to rely on that too much, because sometimes it can be a little off. It's just a really great indicator of where you're at roughly."
