This Throw Blanket Is So Warm, I Added Two to My Wedding Registry
If fall is considered “sweater weather,” then winter is definitely throw blanket season. Sure, it doesn’t roll off the tongue as nicely, but you know it’s true: It doesn’t matter what you’re wearing (leggings! Pajamas! While there are plenty of wool, cashmere, and microfiber layers to choose from, my favorite comes from a rather unexpected source: UGG. The Australian brand might be known for its shearling-lined boots, but it turns out that they also make some incredible home decor — namely, throw blankets and pillows.
As someone who writes about home decor for a living, my shopping cart is filled with some of the coolest, newest brands — and I’d honestly been a little skeptical of UGG’s non-boot offerings. But I completely changed my tune when my uncle and his partner introduced me to UGG’s Pippa striped throw blanket on a recent trip to Chicago. As soon as I snuggled up in this blanket, I immediately added two to my wedding registry: One for me, and one for my husband because, let’s be honest, I knew I wasn’t open to sharing.
It’s been a few months since we received our throw blankets, and I refuse to use anything else. Made with a plush, polyester faux fur, UGG’s Pippa throw has the same comfort of your old boot’s lining — only for your entire body. Let that sink in for a second. I’m not the only one who’s impressed by this throw blanket, either. When my dad used it over Thanksgiving weekend, he smiled a Cheshire cat grin and said, “This is illegal.”
Not to knock the other blankets in my arsenal, but they’re not exactly insulating. Because the UGG Pippa throw blanket has such a thick construction, though, it’s ridiculously warm. I’m talking puffer-jacket warm. Keep in mind this option is thick, so it’s a little too bulky to hang over your headboard or on a trendy blanket ladder, but it looks just fine neatly folded in a woven basket or draped over your sofa.
I was drawn to the throw blanket for its unparalleled comfort and warmth, but it’s worth mentioning that it looks pretty cute, too. Although this layer comes in two other colorways — gray or tan, each with white stripes — the blue and teal version provides a fun, maximalist touch in my living room.
If you’re often cold or live somewhere more temperate, like I do, this blanket’s mix of function and fabulousness makes it well worth the high $128 price tag. The only problem, however, is that my specific blanket is selling out fast. UGG no longer carries the Pippa striped throw blanket on its site, but don’t worry — Neiman Marcus currently still has it!
