Three Children of ASOS Shareholder Were Killed in the Sri Lanka Bombings

Anders Holch Povlsen, a major shareholder in ASOS, lost three of his four children in the bombings that occurred in Sri Lanka on Sunday, April 21, a communications manager for Bestseller, a company owned by Povlsen, confirmed to The Guardian.

As reported by CNN, 290 people were killed in a series of bombings that spanned nine different locations throughout Sri Lanka. Povlsen and his family were reportedly visiting Sri Lanka at the time, the BBC reports.

Speaking to The Guardian, Jesper Stubkier, communications manager for Bestseller, acknowledged that three of Povlsen's children were killed. "We have no further comment and we ask that the family’s privacy is respected at this time," he said. The spokesperson did not confirm which of Povlsen's four children had lost their lives, The Guardian notes.

According to NPR, more than 500 people were wounded in the bombings. It is not yet known who planned or carried out the bombings. However, the Associated Press reports that 13 suspects have been arrested, and Ruwan Wijewardene, Sri Lanka's defense minister, called the bombings a "terrorist attack by religious extremists."
