But, don't fret. We did the hard work for you, and compiled a list of the very best leggings on Amazon you need to keep in your wardrobe for different occasions. To make this list, we asked several fitness experts and Women's Health editors what their favorite pairs are. Our editors who own these pocket leggings say they're soft, yet extremely supportive, and even held up during deep squats and all sorts of exercises that require tons of mobility. Though we wished Fullsoft offer a wider diversity of sizes.

High-Waisted Booty Leggings

If you haven't already lusted after these on TikTok, you've definitely admired the famous butt-lifting leggings on someone at the gym. Your booty looks great as-is, but if you want to make it the star of the show, the expertly-placed seams on these leggings will do just that. It's a go-to legging for Lifestyle Director Lindsay Geller. Every activewear arsenal needs a pair of super comfy seamless leggings that feel like second skin. Even with their mesh fabric, we found that they were not see-through, and held up during our squats and heavy stretches. Though we did find that this is not thick enough to wear on its own in the winter.

How we chose the best Amazon leggings

For the last year, Women's Health editors including editorial assistants Addison Aloian and Olivia Evans, have been vetting the best leggings to shop on Amazon. Our team consulted fitness coaches and instructors for their favorite picks, and spoke with Preeti Arya, PhD, an assistant professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology, to discuss the best fit and care for maintaining leggings' quality.

What to look for in leggings on Amazon

If you're not a brand loyalist, it might seem overwhelming to shop for a solid pair of leggings. There are so many ways leggings can be less than what you bargained for, so here are a few things to keep in mind while selecting the perfect pair for you.

Fabric

Professor Preeti Arya, PhD, specializes in textile development at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She says that the right fabric for leggings depends on your needs. But if you're worried about maintenance, "you can go for something that is petroleum-based because care is easy," she suggests. Petroleum-based fabrics include spandex, polyester, and nylon.

These options are also typically a lot cheaper, according to Arya, but you can also opt for wool or silk, which feel better on your skin, since they're natural fibers. They're also a little harder to care for, though–and require special attention on laundry day.

Rise

Rise is really up to your personal preference, but higher-rise leggings usually have tummy control, which is a plus depending on what you're planning on using them for. Typically, high-rise leggings tend to squeeze more, so that is something to keep in mind if you're easily uncomfortable.

Length

Again, length is up to your personal preference, but the most flattering cut is typically just above your ankle. For most people, that means a 7/8 style of leggings.

Full-length leggings, or ones that extend all the way to your feet, might be better for barefoot workouts like yoga. Other lengths, like capri leggings, are really up to your personal style.

Seams

First, a take on threads: You want your leggings made with microfilament thread, which stretches with the fabric. Aesthetically, quality stitching should look like "three rows of stitching going on," according to Arya, which might look web-like. "You should check to make sure the seams are stretching with the garment," Arya adds.

According to Arya, most wool pairs of leggings have quality seams. However, if you go for a knit pair of leggings, you should be more cognizant of the stitching.

What should you wear under leggings?

It's up to you! Some people opt for the no-underwear look, while others prefer some seamless underwear. Just choose something that makes you feel comfortable.

How should leggings fit?

Most people are misguided when it comes to leggings size, and end up grabbing pairs that are too small, Arya says. While leggings should squeeze, you don't want a pair that feels too confining. Obviously, you should go with the one that makes you feel your best, but Arya says that sizing down might make leggings not last as long.

How long do leggings last?

Your leggings can last for years when cared for properly, or as little as a few months, Arya says. She recommends never putting leggings in a dryer and hand-washing them with bleach-free detergent when you can. Leggings made from wool typically last longer than knit leggings, so Arya emphasizes very delicate care if you opt for a knit pair. "If you have knitted leggings, I recommend washing by hand, or washing it for a 10-minute cycle," she suggests.
