Five days after rapper Mac Miller, 26, passed away, thousands of fans held a vigil in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at Blue Slide Park, which he named his debut album after.

Nightfall Records, the local record label who organized the vigil, expressed Miller deserved a night that paid tribute to him. On Facebook, they wrote, "Mac deserves to be sent off with an evening of celebrating his life, discussing his struggles, and remembering his stories; most importantly for his iconic work that brought joy into the lives of everybody who listened."

Before the vigil, people passed around a petition to name the park after Miller and the Pittsburgh Public Works department put a fresh coat of blue paint on the slide where Miller used to play as a child.

During the memorial, fans sang along to Miller's music, decorated the slides with art, flowers, and Pittsburgh Steelers colors, and lit candles in his memory.

Miller's grandmother, who was in attendance, thanked fans for showing up and for their support. She said, "He would be so excited...I wish he was here, but he loves you all. He loves Pittsburgh and everything you have done for him."

According to a TMZ report, Miller's cause of death on the certificate was labeled as "deferred," which means the cause is still officially unknown but his body was released to his family.
