Thousands Of Capri Sun Cases Recalled Due To Contamination
As kids as head back to school, parents may want to double check one drink before packing it in lunch boxes. An announcement made on The Kraft Heinz Company website on Friday, August 12, reveals that thousands of cases of Wild Cherry Capri Sun beverages have been voluntarily recalled.
The drink pouches were recalled because they were contaminated by a diluted cleaning solution. The cleaning solution, which is used on food-processing equipment, "was inadvertently introduced into a production line" at one of the Kraft Heinz facilities. The company was tipped off about the problem when consumers complained about the drink's taste.
"The issue was discovered after we received several consumer complaints about the taste of the affected product. The Company is actively working with retail partners and distributors to remove potentially impacted product from circulation," the announcement reads.
The affected Capri Suns are Wild Cherry flavor and have a "Best When Used By" date of June 25, 2023. Additional information on the manufacturer code, carton UPC, and more can be found on The Kraft Heinz Company website. Anyone who has bought the Capri Suns are asked not to consume the beverage. They should return the Capri Suns to the store where they were purchased.
Over on social media, the Instagram account for Capri Sun has been inundated with comments from people expressing their anger over the recall. Their most recent Instagram post's comments included several questions about the cleaning solution, with some users pondering legal action.
