The Third Longest Pedestrian Bridge in the World Just Opened in Tennessee

Sometimes a little adventure is just a quick trip away and beginning today, travelers will have the opportunity to experience the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee like never before. Now, SkyLift Park-famous for its incredible views of the Smokies from ski lift seats-has opened a SkyBridge. It's as intense as it sounds...

SkyBridge Gatlinburg is the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America and the third longest in the world, according to WRCB TV, stretching 680 feet across a deep valley. To put this in perspective, that's the distance of more than two football fields (or even two Statues of Liberty).

As if walking across a 5 foot wide bridge suspended 140 feet in the air wasn't scary enough, there is also a glass bottom at its highest point-so you'll actually feel like you're flying. The views of the Smoky Mountains will certainly be worth it, though-if you can gather the courage to move your legs across. Are you enough of a dare devil?

Gatlinburg SkyLift Park is open daily, all year-round, so if you're planning your trip for the spring (March through end of May), you can go from 9am to 9pm; summer (Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day), you can go from 9am to 11pm; fall (September to Decemeber), you can go from 9am to 10pm; or winter (January to February), you can go from 9am to 10pm Friday through Sunday or 10am to 5pm Monday through Thursday.
