We Think These Stores Will Restock the PS5 This Week

Finding an in-stock PlayStation 5 has quickly become a nearly impossible task. Between incredible demand, slow production and an army of scalpers, the odds are all but stacked against you.

However, with a bit of persistence — and a whole lot of luck — you could become one of the millions of PlayStation fans out there to finally snag a PS5. We’ve taken a look at previous restock trends at retailers around the nation to help pinpoint which online storefronts you should be keeping your eyes on.

Most Likely PS5 Restocks (Week of June 1st)

While it’s possible a company not on this list will drop a surprise restock, the following retailers seem the most likely to have a PS5 in stock within the next week.

Walmart

When it comes to consistency, you simply can’t beat Walmart. Most Thursday afternoons you can find both the traditional PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition available online. They tend to sell out in just a few minutes — and every so often the retailer will drop a restock on another day — but it’s been one of the best places to find a PlayStation 5 in stock since they launched last year.

If this trend continues, be sure to keep your eyes peeled on Thursday around 3 p.m. ET.

Best Buy

The past two weeks have seen two PS5 restocks at Best Buy — both on Thursday at 3:40 p.m. ET. There’s no guarantee lightning will strike a third time, but it can’t hurt to open up a second tab next to Walmart on Thursday.

Before the latest restocks, Best Buy had been dropping inventory on Monday and Tuesday. It’s hard to say if Thursday will become the company’s new “PlayStation 5 Drop Day,” but that seems to be the trend as of late.

Sony Direct

Not only has Sony Direct seen fresh batches of PS5 inventory over the past few months, but it’s also built a system that helps thwart scalpers from buying up large quantities of consoles when they go live. This works by putting all buyers into a virtual queue instead of letting them spam the “Add to Cart” button as fast as they can.

You can also sign up for notifications, giving you a head start on the action. The last Sony Direct inventory drop took place on May 20th, but there doesn’t seem to be much of a pattern to its restocks. Even if it might not be the most likely to see new consoles in the coming week, it’s worth keeping your eyes peeled due to its fair virtual queue system.

Amazon

The online retail giant hasn’t been the most reliable source of PlayStation 5 restocks, but that might be changing in the coming weeks. On May 26th, Amazon surprised fans by announcing a new wave of PS5 inventory — leading some to speculate restocks would become more frequent in June as Amazon builds hype for some type of summer sale.

It’s hard to say whether this theory will hold true, but it doesn’t hurt to keep an eye on the site — and its social media channels — in the coming days.

GameStop

Despite being a reliable source of PlayStation 5 restocks, there’s a good reason you might not be interested in checking out GameStop’s inventory since much of its availability is tied up in expensive bundles with extra games and controllers. If you happen to be looking for a second controller and are interested in the week’s bundled-in game, it’s not a bad deal. But if you’re not looking to spend $700 you might want to look elsewhere.

GameStop does still drop standalone PlayStation 5 consoles, although they sell out incredibly fast. Its bundles sell out at a much slower pace, making them a good option if you don’t mind the inflated price tag.

Previous restocks have occurred on Wednesday, although it’s unclear if that pattern will continue.

While sales on the PlayStation 5 are probably a ways off, you can still set up a Deal Alert and we’ll let you know the next time either version of the system sees a discount.
