All the Things You'll Need for Baby's First Swim Class
"It will be fun!" we said. "He'll learn how to be more comfortable in the water," we also said. Two things that probably would have been true had we been more prepared for our baby's first swimming class. Instead, my husband and I spent the morning frantically running around trying to gather the items we needed (some of which we didn't realize we were missing until we were knee-deep in the water). Don't be like us. Here, seven items to bring to your kid's first dip in the pool.

Swimming diaper
Because God forbid if your kid is the one that ruins the fun for everyone else. This pick is super absorbent, easy to put on and can be washed with the rest of your laundry. (Psst... don't forget to pack regular diapers to change into afterwards, too.)
A swimsuit
Here's a fun fact: Most pools will require that your baby wears a swimming diaper and a swimsuit. (Who knew? Not me.) Opt for one with snap leg opening for easy diaper changing as well as UPF protection in case you want to use it on your beach vacation. Equally important? Get one with an adorable print so that you can showcase your mini's doggy paddle skills on the 'Gram.
Swimming goggles
Depending on how old your kid is (and the type of class), you may want to invest in a pair of swimming goggles. This handy set will grow with your child (the small strap works for ages 0 to 2 while the large glasses go from 2 to 5 years). And the matching case makes for easy storage.
Towels
Bring one for your kid, one for you and one extra. This pick comes in a convenient set of four.
Again, this will depend on the class but some instructors require that kids wear a cap in the pool. (Check with your swimming center beforehand so that you're not caught out.)
A swimsuit for mom
There's nothing wrong with donning your vacation bikini to swim class (like I had to because I couldn't find my suit) but you'll be more comfortable with a full costume. Opt for one that can handle some wear, tear and chlorine.
Baby Lotion
Speaking of chlorine, protect your kid's sensitive skin by slathering them with lotion once they've rinsed off in the shower. We like ones that are paraben and fragrance free plus come with a handy pump application (because juggling a wet baby in your hands is stressful enough).
