Things to do: Stroll downtown during Art Walk and visit featured artist Carrie Turner

Stroll through downtown Zanesville and enjoy the springtime weather during May's ArtCoz First Friday Art Walk. Grab your DORA cup from either Weasel Boy Brewing, Muddy Miser's or the Old Market House Inn and sip on an adult beverage as you peruse the galleries. The featured artist of the month is Carrie Turner. Come out and show support for the Tri-Valley Marching Scotties at the 2024 Tri-Valley Band food truck and craft vendor festival. The event is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the high school. New for this year will be a car, truck and motorcycle show. Find a unique gift from one of the vendors or stuff your face with food. Some of the mobile food vendors on-site include Chick-fil-A, Fat Kid Burgers, Bee Sweet Deserts and Twisted Classics. Craft vendors for the day include E & J's Car Freshies, Thirty-One, Color Street, C & R Creations and more. Live music will be presented by The Perry Morgan Pickers from noon to 1 p.m. For more information or to become a vendor email events@tvbands.org.

Outside escape room

Join ClueUpp games and go on an unique outdoor escape room-style experience. Travel through Zanesville solving the Witchcraft & Wizardry: Murder by Magic puzzle. Grab some friends and create a team of up to six people. Using a smartphone and your wits, collect clues and be the first to solve the crime. Teams can consist of two to six adults, with kids playing for free. The average time to complete the game is between two and three hours, and players can begin anytime between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tickets are $80 per team and can be purchased by visiting www.cluedupp.com.

Family field day

Head out with the family to enjoy the annual Zemba Family Field Day. This year's event, Day in the Dirt, is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 11 at 455 Rock Cut Road in Zanesville. There is no set entrance fee, but cash donations per person will be accepted or guests can bring a canned food item. The day is packed with activities including a pig chase, a pedal pull, an obstacle course and a bike raffle. Kids can get the chance to operate giant construction equipment as well. The event is scheduled to run rain or shine, so be sure to dress for the weather. For more information call 740-297-9071.

Kids potting flowers

Bring the kids to play in the dirt at McDonald's Greenhouse. Running from Sunday, May 5 through Saturday, May 11, stop by and hang out in the Kids Potting Bench Area. Kids can treat Mom to a plant they planted themselves, leaving all the mess at the greenhouse. If digging in the dirt isn't your thing, sign up for the Mother's Day Herb Infusion event. Scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 11, learn how to make your own pampering products. Guests can choose two items to make, including an herb body spray, a magnesium lotion, homemade deodorant or an herb-infused body butter. The class is $45 per person or $85 for two people.
