Things to do: Spring race will benefit Great Guernsey Trail and Coal Ridge Park areas

Spring race at the Great Guernsey Trail

Dust off your running shoes and enjoy a scenic race along the Great Guernsey Trail. Starting at the Corduroy Road entrance to the trail, the races will include a half-marathon, 10K, 5K and a Fun Run. This will be a bibbed timed race. Registration starts at $25 and the money raised will help improve the Guernsey County Community Development’s Great Guernsey Trail and Coal Ridge Park areas. Festival and bazaar in Byesville park

Spend a Saturday afternoon in the Village of Byesville at the park. Let the kids run in the shaded playground area as you enjoy the spring festival and bazaar. Shop locally made gifts and more. All proceeds from the event will go towards purchasing a new scoreboard for the field behind Rasor's Drive-in. Those interested in being a vendor at the event should call 740-680-0089. The village park is located at 216 Meek Ave. in Byesville. The event is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Day of Enchantment

Sponsored by Cambridge Main Street, bring your little ones to Wheeling Avenue for a day of magic. Carriage rides, face painting, crafts, and more are scheduled to take place. Tickets and registration are required for this event. Tickets are $25 per child and can be purchased at https://downtowncambridge.com or by calling the Main Street office. Family field day

Head out with the family to enjoy the annual Zemba Family Field Day. This year's event, Day in the Dirt, is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at 455 Rock Cut Road in Zanesville. There is no set entrance fee, but cash donations will be accepted or guests can bring a canned food item. The day is packed with activities including a pig chase, a pedal pull, an obstacle course and a bike raffle. Kids can get the chance to operate giant construction equipment as well. The event is scheduled to run rain or shine, so be sure to dress for the weather. For more information call 740-297-9071.

Kids can pot flowers at greenhouse

Bring the kids to play in the dirt at McDonald's Greenhouse. Running through Saturday, stop by and hang out in the kids potting bench area. Kids can treat their mothers to a plant they planted themselves, leaving all the mess at the greenhouse. If digging in the dirt isn't your thing, sign up for the Mother's Day Herb Infusion event. Scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Sunday, learn how to make your own pampering products. Guests can choose two items to make, including an herb body spray, a magnesium lotion, homemade deodorant or an herb-infused body butter. The class is $45 per person or $85 for two people.
