KANSAS CITY, Mo. — It looks like there is a festival, outdoor activities or sporting event this weekend, no matter where in the Kansas City area you live.
Here are 12 events going on this weekend — May 17 through May 19 — that are worth checking out.

Kelce Jam
Kelce Jam is returning to Kansas City on Saturday and will feature many notable artists curated by the three-time Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce, including Grammy Award-winning musicians Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz and Diplo.
From 5 p.m. to 12 a.m., the Azura Amphitheater in Bonner Springs is welcome to all ages and will feature plenty of entertainment and food.
Summer Fireworks at the K!
Catch a show on the Field and in the Sky Friday night, After the Kansas City Royals take on the Oakland Athletics, there will be fireworks. The Royals will also honor many players and coaches from the 2014 Royals roster before the game.
The game starts at 6:40 p.m., and the first pitch will be thrown by Kelvin Herrera.
CPKC’s Final Spike Steam Tour
The Final Spike Steam Tour celebrates the first anniversary of CPKC’s creation while telling the story of CPKC’s uniquely North American railway history.
The train will be at Union Station in Kansas City on Saturday. The public will have the opportunity to see the 2816 up close, learn more about the locomotive and CPKC’s history, and enjoy the Puffer Belly Express mini-train.

Downtown KCK Third Friday Art Walk
The Third Friday Art Walk drives support between artists, businesses and the community. Every month, portions of 6th Street shut down for the Art Walk. Start at Epic Arts Clay Studio to browse work by creative vendors within the road closure. You can experience an evening of diverse music, food, and art.

Adult Prom night
LEGOLAND Discovery Center & SEA LIFE is taking you back in time to one of the most iconic nights of your life at our next Adult Night on May 17. Bring a date, dress up and enjoy a throwback to high school.
Tickets are $19 per person, and couples tickets are $29.99.

KCK Third Friday Golden Hour Kaw Point

Kansas City Monarchs 24-Hour Game Of Catch
The reigning American Association champions are hosting a 24-hour game of catch from Legends Field in Kansas City, Kansas.
The event leads up to the Monarchs’ first-ever Friends Night on Saturday, honoring the classic sitcom. It celebrates the 25th anniversary of the iconic Friends episode “The One With The Ball,” where characters from the show play catch for hours on end.
Hot 103 Jamz! celebrates 74th year in Kansas City
The reigning American Association champions are hosting a 24-hour game of catch from Legends Field in Kansas City, Kansas.
Friends night will also feature an in-game costume contest, Friends clips on the stadium video board, and Friends-themed selfie stations throughout the ballpark.
Sierra grand opening at Bluhawk
A new Sierra store is opening in Overland Park next week, and here is everything you need to know.
The new storefront is set to open on Saturday, May 18, at 8 a.m. at Bluhawk Marketplace, located only a half-mile from Route 69 at 7860 West 161st Street. The grand opening will feature music from a local DJ, as well as fun games and giveaways for shoppers.

Missouri Department of Conservation guided bird hike
The Missouri Department of Conservation will offer a free guided birding hike from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the Burr Oak Woods Nature Center in Blue Springs.
The Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area that surrounds the nature center has hiking trails through forest, woodland, and native grassland habitats.
‘Waggin’ On the Wheel’ adoption event
The Kansas City Wheel is partnering with Great Plains SPCA for the first ‘Waggin’ On the Wheel’ event where pet adoptions and rides on the ferris wheel alongside your four-legged friend will be open to everyone who joins in on the fun.
The event will be all weekend long, and will give people the chance to support the organization’s cause while finding the newest member of their family
Dog adoption events will be open from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
KU Day at The K
Rock Chalk Royals! Head to The K on Sunday for KU Day. When you purchase a University Night theme ticket, you get a special crewneck for you so you can sport your school.
Royals x KU co-branded crewnecks will only be distributed inside Gate A. The Royals ask that you arrive before the 2nd inning to pick up the item. Gate A will open at 11:30 a.m. but the game starts at 1:10 p.m.
