For every holiday, there's a set of traditions. There's usually a food associated with the day. For Valentine's Day, better or worse, it's conversation hearts. There might be a ceremonial gift to give, like roses or a heart-shaped box of chocolates. Maybe there's a color to wear (red), or a seasonal song to sing. But always, no matter the holiday, there's a Peanuts special to watch.

Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown originally came out in 1975, after the Peanuts gang had already done specials for Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter and even Election Day.

As is always the case with Charlie Brown, this isn't a rosy, nostalgia-tinged take on Valentine's Day. Charlie and Linus both start off with big expectations for February 14, and they each experience their own different types of heartbreak.

Sound like too much of a bummer? There are other Valentine's Day movies for kids you can watch with your Sweet Babboo. But if it sounds like your cup of tea, here's where you can watch Charlie Brown's romantic foibles this year.

There's only one way to stream Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown in 2024.

As with all of the Peanuts specials, Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown is only available in one place: Apple TV+. On the one hand, it's convenient to know that, if you want to watch a Peanuts special, there's only one place you have to look — they're not scattered across the four corners of the streaming universe. On the other hand, if you don't happen to have Apple TV+, you're entirely out of luck.

With other streaming movies and shows, if you don't subscribe to their home streaming service, you may be able to rent them elsewhere — at someplace like Amazon Prime Video or VUDU, for example — for a price. This isn't the case with Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown. And sometimes, with the bigger specials, Apple will strike a deal with PBS or another TV service to show it on the air for one or two nights. Unfortunately, there's no deal like that in place for the V-Day movie. There is really only one place to stream it, but there is a 7-day free trial you can use to watch it, so there's always that.

Those families still into physical media have one other option: It is available on DVD for less than $10. And if you own the DVD, so long as your player still works, you won't have to worry about who owns the streaming rights.

There's a new Peanuts special to watch in February, too.

Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown is great, but it has been kick around since the '70s. Fans who are looking for a new Peanuts adventure will get a Valentine's Day-ish treat of their own this year.

Welcome Home, Franklin finally shines a spotlight on Franklin, who's usually confined to the edges of the other Peanuts specials. This installment goes into his backstory. Franklin often moves around because his family is in the military. When he has a hard time making friends with Charlie Brown and the rest of the gang, he turns to his grandfather's old journal for advice. When his grandfather writes that "everybody loves a winner," Franklin decides to enter the local Soap Box Derby race. But will he win — and will that open the door to new friends?

It's not explicitly a Valentine's Day story, but it seems pretty sweet all the same. Welcome Home, Franklin will come to Apple TV+ on February 16. That's just after the holiday, but hopefully everyone will still be in a loving mood, and they'll open their hearts to Franklin.
