  • Paris Jackson will play Jesus in an upcoming film called Habit.

  • Some people online are signing a petition to stop the movie’s distribution, calling it “Christianophobic garbage.”

If you’ve been wondering, Wait, what the heck has Paris Jackson been up to these days?, the good news is that there’s an update! As it turns out, Paris is tapping into her acting chops and is set to star in a brand-new film alongside Disney’s very own Bella Thorne and Gwen Stefani’s ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale. But wait until you hear the script.

The title of the movie is Habit, which follows the story of “a street-smart party girl with a Jesus fetish who gets mixed up in a violent drug deal and finds a possible way out by masquerading as a nun.” If you’re wondering who plays who, apparently Bella plays the nun and Paris plays Jesus. Sure, she might be playing a Jesus who wears a nose ring and a long shaggy bob, but it’s Jesus nonetheless.

Naturally, the movie and its casting netted a lot of backlash in religious communities to the point where someone has now created an entire Change.org petition demanding that the movie isn’t distributed. The petition reads:

“A new blasphemous Hollywood film is predicted to come out soon depicting Jesus as a lesbian woman. The film Habit stars Paris Jackson who plays the role of ‘lesbian Jesus.’ Distributors haven’t picked it up as of yet, so let’s please spread awareness and wake people up to the Christianophobic garbage that is spread nowadays but is somehow accepted and praised by society.”

So far, the petition has more than 268,000 signatures, but let’s be real—if Hollywood thinks this story will make a lot of moola, a few virtual signatures probably won’t cut it. Bella responded to the backlash on Instagram, but Paris hasn’t said anything publicly.
