Netflix is developing a TV show based on the life of John F. Kennedy.

Variety first reported the news, sharing that "Netflix sees the series as something like an American version of The Crown."Here's what we know so far about the as-yet-unnamed drama.

It will be based on Fredrik Logevall's biography of Kennedy.

The show will be based on Logevall's biography JFK: Coming Of Age In The American Century, 1917-1956, which follows Kennedy's childhood through his time as a senator. Per the publisher, "This volume spans the first thirty-nine years of JFK’s life—from birth through his decision to run for president—to reveal his early relationships, his formative experiences during World War II, his ideas, his writings, his political aspirations. In examining these pre–White House years, Logevall shows us a more serious, independently minded Kennedy than we’ve previously known, whose distinct international sensibility would prepare him to enter national politics at a critical moment in modern U.S. history."

It's the first in a planned two-volume series; the second, which is not out yet, will likely cover Kennedy's presidency and assassination.

Eric Roth will write and produce the show.

According to Variety, Roth, who won an Oscar for Forrest Gump, will write and executive produce. Other executive producers include Chernin Entertainment's Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping, and no showrunner has been announced yet. No casting decisions have been announced, nor are they likely to be while the SAG-AFTRA strike is ongoing.

We'll update this as soon as we learn more about the show.
