"There's Definitely A Learning Curve To Jumping Back Into Whistler" - Rider Has A Close One On Famous Hip

The Whistler Bike Park needs no introduction. It is one of the most historic founding fathers of modern mountain biking and has served as a Mecca for mountain bikers around the world since the late 90's.

Part of the draw of the park is that you are hard pressed to find bigger public jumps anywhere in North America.

Take a look at a candid approach to their flagship line, Dirt Merchant, below.

Phil Kmetz, the rider here, breaks down riding the Whistler Bike Park quite aptly in this video: You have to ease into it a little bit.

He couldn't have said it better. It is best practice to ease into features the size of the ones on Dirt Merchant. The same sentiment applies to any massive jump line, even if you are familiar with going big it's never a bad idea to take it slowly to start out the day and ease into the line.

One forced example of that is Coast Gravity Park, they don't open either of their flagship jump lines, Coastal Cruise and Flight Deck, until the afternoon to ensure that riders have a chance to warm up before jumping into the big lines.
