ICYMI, There’s Been an Attempted Breach of Kate Middleton’s Medical Files

Someone attempted to access Kate Middleton's private medical files at the hospital where she'd had her abdominal surgery—a huge security breach that has been reported to Kensington Palace and is currently under investigation.

According to The Mirror, “at least one member of staff” at The London Clinic tried to access the Princess of Wales's medical notes.

“This is a major security breach and incredibly damaging for the hospital, given its unblemished reputation for treating members of the Royal Family,” a source recently said to the outlet. “Senior hospital bosses contacted Kensington Palace immediately after the incident was brought to their attention and assured the palace there would be a full investigation. The whole medical staff have been left utterly shocked and distraught over the allegations and were very hurt that a trusted colleague could have possibly been responsible for such a breach of trust and ethics.”

Accessing medical records without consent is a criminal offense, but it's unclear whether the Metropolitan Police is planning on getting involved. That said, a spokesperson did relay the following to The Mirror: “We can confirm that we have received a breach report and are assessing the information provided.”

Meanwhile, the hospital released a statement that read, “We firmly believe that all our patients, no matter their status, deserve total privacy and confidentiality regarding their medical information,” while Kensington Palace noted, “This is a matter for The London Clinic.”
