Could Karl Lagerfeld be saying hola to Cuba and adios to the fashion world next month at his forthcoming Chanel Resort show? Page Six reports that the 83-year-old designer is planning on leaving the scene, with sources saying “he is not doing well and he’s ready to stop.”

We all know Lagerfeld is something of a workaholic, juggling duties for Chanel, Fendi, and his own label. And, as Page Six mentions, Lagerfeld has stated in the past that he would never retire. Although Jay Z once said the Black Album would be his last and…we all know how that turned out.

Karl’s people have yet to comment, but knowing how much the guy works, it’s very difficult to see him throwing in the towel and spending the rest of his days on a private island, surrounded by shirtless manservants and his entourage of attractive, young folks. Doesn’t seem like his M.O.

UPDATE: A rep for Chanel reached out to deny claims that Karl is on the outs. “The rumours about Mr. Lagerfeld discontinuing the collections and the Cruise Collection show in Cuba being the last are unsubstantiated.”
