We don't typically see the behind-the-scenes footage of therapy dogs training. We only ever see them being the best doggos, working very hard to bring smiles to the faces of every person they meet. But, just as it is for any dog training, therapy dog training can be very much a work in progress.

We see that loud and clear in this clip from TikTok user @mommamccurdy. This TikToker asks the therapy dog in training, Meggie, to go give a document to her mom. The reaction is one very excited dog. Take a look!

Stop it! We can't handle this adorableness. Meggie was just too excited that she finally had a task to do. She thought to herself, it's her time to shine and shine she did. She put the biggest smiles on our faces. Although she didn't successfully complete the task, she got an A for effort!

There are plenty of reasons as to why therapy dogs are used. Fur babies can offer comfort and love to those in hospitals, nursing homes, or individuals while in therapy and physical therapy sessions. They also support people with anxiety disorders and depression, schools, hospices, and disaster areas. Therapy dogs are excellent at providing affection where needed. In Meggie's case, she'll be working in a pediatric office. We have a feeling she'll get the hang of it in no time, especially since she has Jett the Rottweiler showing her the ropes.

Not any dog can be a therapy dog. These dogs go through training and certifications before they can lend a helping paw. Therapy dogs must also be at least one year old. They are observed with their handlers on visits to different sites. As long as the handler and his or her dog are successful with the tests and submit the paperwork, they can become a therapy team.
