Theo Campbell, star of 'Love Island' and 'The Challenge,' partially blinded in champagne cork accident

A British reality TV star is "looking on the bright side of things" after an accident with a champagne cork left him blind in one eye.

Theo Campbell, famous for appearing on MTV's "The Challange" and the hit U.K. reality show "Love Island," shared news of the injury on Instagram Tuesday, along with a photo from his hospital bed.

"I’ve lost all vision in my right eye as it got split in half," Campbell's post said. "Who would have thought a champagne cork would be the end of me."

The accident occurred in Ibiza, a Spanish island known for its nightlife and popularity among tourists. Campbell's girlfriend, Kaz Crossley, flew to the hospital to be with him.

Crossley, also a former "Love Island" contestant, took to social media Wednesday with more details about Campbell's injury. In a video posted to her Instagram story, the 24-year-old revealed that Campbell was bent over trying to wipe champagne out of his eye when someone nearby opened a bottle into his face.

She also said that Campbell would have to remain in the hospital for at least another two days while he recovered.

Campbell, 28, said on Twitter Wednesday that he has seven stitches in his eye and that doctors have told him he probably won't see properly again. He added that surgeons had managed to save the eye, which he originally thought he'd lose entirely.

"I'm hopeful and don’t want to believe my eye is gone forever," Campbell's tweet said. "Anything is possible."

Campbell, who shared more tweets thanking fans for their support, is seemingly staying positive about the ordeal. His original Instagram post said asked followers for suggestions for buying "cool eye patches," and referenced a number of famous one-eyed figures β€” including Captain Hook and Fetty Wap.
