January Jones: Actress, mother, beauty junkie? Well, if you have ever scrolled through The Last Man on Earth star’s Instagram feed, you know the latter is as true as her bathtub series is unforgettable. So while catching up with Jones about being the new face of luxury hair care brand Kérastase in this week’s issue of People (on stands Friday), we asked her to dish the details of her routine. From Jones’ hair-washing schedule, to why she’s got a $795 moisturizer on her shelf, here’s everything we learned.

“I’m super religious about taking care good care of my skin and hair,” says Jones, who admits that her Mad Men days have had a major impact on her regimen. “When you do a show for like nine years, everything gets put through the ringer. That’s made me more cautious about what I’m putting on my hair and my face.” And for her, it starts from the inside, out, with “lots of vitamins.”

When it comes to her skin, she spares no expense, applying a $795 on a moisturizer on her face at night. The gem, from the brand Sisley, once took center stage in an Instagram photo she posted (below). Surrounded by it were 10 items that paled in price comparison, among them: La Prairie Rapid Response Booster, $300, iS Clinical Active Serum, $130, celeb makeup guru Charlotte Tilbury’s cult classic Magic Cream, $100, and celeb facialist Shani Darden’s Retinol Reform (which Jones calls “awesome”), $75.

But Jones has good reason not to trade the MVP of her vanity in for anything else: “I’ve been using [it] for seven years and my skin hasn’t aged. I’m afraid if I stop using it everything will fall apart,” says the star, who piles on her products. “When I go to bed, my face is just covered in grease. It’s pretty disgusting. But especially as you get older, it’s important to moisturize.”

And it turns out her love of pricey skin care is where her beauty splurging ends. She dislikes facials, which irritate her sensitive skin, and instead replicates the spa experience in the privacy of her own home using at home masks (the actress has shared the moment once or twice on social media).

She also has a pretty rock-solid hair care routine, which includes only washing her blonde mane a couple of times a week and never blow-drying it. Beyond that, it’s all about applying the right products. “I’ve used Kérastase hair masques forever. Every few weeks I’ll take a 25 minute bath and leave one on the whole time,” says Jones, who also swears by the brand’s serums, which “have gotten me through many hair color changes and lots of blow-drying and teasing on the set of Mad Men.”

“I’m lucky that I’ve been able to maintain pretty good healthy hair. I don’t think I would’ve done it if I wasn’t religious in my caretaking of it,” says Jones.

The actress, who’s also been known to rock bold beauty looks on the red carpet, has a few makeup must-haves, too. “I always carry a NARS Orange-red lip color called Red Square and a Chanel lip color called Boy, which is a pink-y nude its more glossy and its just great for every day.”
