More Than Half of Us Want to Try BDSM (+ More Insights to Our Fantasies)

OKCupid just released their “2015 Year in Review” report, and the findings are pretty fascinating. It can be nerve-racking to join a dating site, let alone open up your sexual desires to a new partner. But, for those into this one kink, you’ll be glad to know many OKCupid users share your interest.
58% of all OKCupid users admit to being interested in BDSM, with 60% yearning to be tied up, and 40% eager to do the tying up. This 5% increase from 2014 could be attributed to a multitude of reasons, but what comes to mind is the recent explosion of awareness of BDSM thanks to the release of 50 Shades of Grey.
That’s not all, apparently 2015 was our biggest year for open sexual mindedness after all. When users were questioned about their masturbation habits, 50% of users admit to doing it a few times a week while 23% confess to masturbating at least once a day.

The OKCupid report was published on their data blog, The Deep End, in which information from users was collected through questions asked during profile completion. Since users can respond to as many or as little of the questions as they’d like, not all users provided data. However, about 200,000 users’ information was collected in order to develop their statistics.
We’re not sure what’s in store for people dating in 2016, but we’d strongly encourage thinking about a safe word.
