Travis Brewer, the American Ninja Warrior, is all about the power of positive impact and mental transformation. I was able to sit down and talk with him about his training and, most importantly, how his attitude toward challenges and life in general have affected his successes.
He shared how he learned to find positivity in all areas of his life, and how it all started with his passion for lifestyle movement. Travis is a former gymnast and now does bar calisthenics, is a Reebok athlete, and has a lifestyle clothing line.
I asked him what the key is to preparing mentally for a big challenge and he gave me some powerful insight: He told me the key to mentally preparing yourself is eliminating fear.
Eliminating fear isn’t easy, but the idea is essential to staying out of your own way.
Here are some tips Travis gave to begin your journey toward eliminating your fear:
Remember that success doesn’t happen overnight. You have to get prepared. Start small and work your way toward your bigger picture.
Lean on your community. If you don’t have a group of people to bounce ideas off of and brainstorm with, make one. It’s so important to have a community to support you in your endeavors and to return that support to them when they need it.
Believe that you can do it. When you attempt something big, and your heart is pounding, you have to believe that the practice you’ve done will help you achieve the challenge in front of you.
Define your goal. You have to know what your dream is to live it.
Be dedicated. No success comes without challenges. Don’t let setbacks or hiccups prevent you from moving forward.
Journal. Record your progress, your successes, and failures. It will help you move forward.
Live a positive, impactful life. Positivity is a lifeline. We all get bad news and circumstances, but having a positive attitude will make it easier.
Positivity is key. It’s a part of who Travis is, and it’s a choice he makes every day.
What would your life look like if you approached each experience as an opportunity for growth, rather than something negative holding you back from achieving your greatness?
