This Texas Roadhouse Meal Hack Feeds Your Whole Family for $40

"Perfect for busy weeknights!"

If you love the fresh rolls, scratch-made sides, and Southern-style flavors of Texas Roadhouse, we have a family-feeding hack you’re going to want to hear about.

Last month, a Texas Roadhouse meal deal went viral when fans realized just how much value was packed into the chain’s family-style supper. The bundle featured sides, sauces, and more chicken critters (A.K.A. the TR-take on chicken tenders) than you could count, all for just $40.

So, we sent our taste-tester extraordinaire, Nicole McLaughlin, to the restaurant to see if the budget dinner could really feed a family well. Here’s everything that comes with the mega-sized meal.

The Texas Roadhouse Family Meal Deal

First, you get a full pan of your choice of meat: chicken critters, BBQ chicken, or pulled pork. Other family-pack meal options include beef tips, ribeyes, 6-ounce sirloins, 8-ounce strips, pork chops, and ribs, but they’ll all cost you more than the $39.99 value price.

Next, two sharable sides (each choice comes with two large bowls) from a selection of buttered corn, mashed potatoes, green beans, seasoned rice, and steak fries.

To finish it off, a family-sized salad (Caesar or house), a big bowl of brown gravy, and a dozen soft and steamy Roadhouse rolls. The meals come with 2 choices of sauce as well, between honey mustard, ranch dressing, hot sauce, BBQ sauce, and mild sauce.

And, saving the best for last, a large cup of the signature cinnamon butter comes with every meal. You'll have more than enough of that sweet buttery spread to top your Roadhouse rolls, leaving you with plenty to slather on toast, bagels, or biscuits for the following few mornings—and, to some, that alone might be worth the price.

Texas Roadhouse Chicken Critter Dinner Review

After trying out the family dinner with her own crew, here’s what Nicole thought of the Texas Roadhouse feast.

“For $40, it fed my family of five with enough leftover for two full lunches. Definitely worth the money,” she shared.

Because Nicole was feeding a family of five instead of four, she said there wasn’t quite enough of each side to go around. So, instead of ordering green beans and mashed potatoes, next time, she’ll order two helpings of mashed potatoes and have the salad as the “green thing” on the plate.

The chicken critter dinner came with about 24 strips total, so between the leftover chicken and leftover rolls, she plans to make sliders for her kids’ lunches for the next few days. The leftover crispy chicken strips would also be perfect for chicken tortilla wraps, salads, or even quesadillas. If you’re a meal-prepper, you could order this meal and divide it up among many lunches for your work week.

But, Nicole’s favorite part of the Southern food bundle wasn’t the chicken, the mashed potatoes, or the even cinnamon butter.

“THE BEST PART of the whole thing is how easy it is to order and pick up,” Nicole raved. “Everything right on time. They were out with my food within 2 minutes of my arrival. Perfect for busy weeknights!”

So, if you love the Texas Roadhouse staples, this is a menu hack to rely on when weeknights get busy. Everybody will leave the table happy, and nobody will leave hungry.
