Every year, the shopping mall Galleria Dallas displays the country’s tallest indoor Christmas tree.
It recently went up for this holiday season, and it’s a must-see for anyone who can’t get enough of seasonal decor.

First debuting in 1984, the tree towers 95 feet above the mall’s ice skating rink. The five-ton tree features 450,000 twinkling LED lights, 10,000 colored ball ornaments, and more than 1,700 branches. It’s then, of course, topped with a 100-pound, 10-foot-tall LED star. It takes nearly 50 people around 48 hours to erect and decorate the tree.
The mall hosts a few tree lighting ceremonies. During the Grand Tree Lighting Celebrations called Missile Toes, a back-flipping Santa Claus literally shoots fireworks off his skates. The flame-retardant Santa suit is made of a customized pyrotechnical system that took more than five years to develop, according to a press release. During another show called the Illumination Celebration, viewers can see the tree lights flashing to specially orchestrated music. Some shows are free, and others require you to buy tickets that benefit a charity.
If the gigantic Christmas tree isn’t enough to satisfy your festive decor needs, the mall also features 44 palm trees, two 36-foot trees, two 12-foot trees, and six 9-foot trees covered in LED lights.
