Texas Cat Leads Game Warden To Helpless Kittens After Wildfire
A fire that broke out February 26 near Stinnett, Texas and spread to the state panhandle had one very lucky survivor who crossed paths with a Texas game warden, a black cat who led the game warden to some helpless kittens.
This fire has resulted in the worst wildfire in state history incinerating nearly 1.1 million acres. This is one lucky black cat!
ABC7 reports that Texas game warden Texas Game Warden Sarah Wennersten was mapping and assessing the rubble left behind from the Smokehouse Creek Fire when she came across a black cat.

The another kitten showed up, and then another! After following the trail of kittens, the game warden noticed one of them was suffering from singed fur and an injured paw.

Texas Parks and Wildlife explains, "A medic attended to the little survivor and determined its injuries were not life threatening. Since the area was evacuated during the fire, the cat’s owners could not be located. Water and food were provided."
The Texas A&M Veterinary Emergency Services team has been hard at work helping so many animals the last few days.
The post reads, "In the past three days, the VET has checked 366 head of cattle and treated an additional 70 animals including cattle, horses, donkeys, dogs, and a goat who were affected by the largest wildfire in Texas history."
