When trying on Rudy Project's latest sport sunglasses, which debuted at the company’s 30th Anniversary party in September, they felt so light they practically vanished while I was wearing them. Even after a few hours, I never felt any kind of weight across the tops of my ears or nose. At the same time, the adjustable silicone nose- and earpieces are really comfortable and did a great job of keeping the glasses in place, even under heavy perspiration.

Structurally, the sunglasses are well engineered. The frame shape and lens venting enhanced airflow, so I never experienced any fogging while heating up at the tops of climbs, even on cold days.

Among the five sunglass lens options available, I found the photochromic lens—which changes tint nearly instantly—to be especially useful during early morning rides in changing light conditions. I never really appreciated photochromic lenses until I was riding through a tunnel and back into bright sunlight: The lenses quickly adjusted to light levels in the tunnel, so I never lost sight of my front wheel. When riding out of the tunnel, the Tralyx lens quickly readjusted, so that I was not blinded by daylight.

If sport sunglasses are often too big for you, get excited: Rudy Project also makes the Tralyx SX, a version specifically designed for smaller faces.
