More from WWD

Us concealer lovers swear by the cult-favorite Tarte Shape Tape, but Tarte’s expanded concealer collection now ranges in skin-type specific formulations, from the matte Shape Tape Full Coverage Concealer, high-coverage Shape Tape Ultra Creamy Concealer, and the Tarte Shape Tape Radiant Medium-Coverage Concealer. Just last year, the Radiant formula launched as the newest addition, with a luminous spin on the brand’s bestselling complexion lineup. If you rely on the original concealer for acne, don’t let the medium-coverage claims scare you — this one maintains the same staying power, blendability, and weightless feel, with especially natural and hydrating coverage.

This hydrating concealer ranks alongside its Shape Tape counterparts on Ulta’s concealer bestseller list, and has a viral TikTok following of over 27 million views and searches. The hype may have something to do with it’s skin-blurring effects (powered by a duo of diamond powder and mineral pigments), or for it’s fresh-faced, dewy finish. But our editors are especially impressed by its laundry list of intensely nourishing ingredients, like plumping vegan collagen and squalene, calming green tea, licorice root, and ginseng, and glow-boosting hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and seed oils. Whether you dab, blend, or buff, this concealer practically melts into the skin, and leaves behind an “I woke up like this” finish that we haven’t found from any other product.

    • Hydrating

    • Waterproof and crease-proof

    • Vegan, dermatologist-tested, and cruelty-free

  • Cons:

    • Large doe foot applicator lacks precision

    • Not full-coverage

    • May appear shiny on oily skin types

  • Testing review: “I’ve been using the OG Tarte Shape Tape Concealer for years, so I was hesitant to stray from a tried a true. But I’m so glad I did. I have combination skin, which gets especially dry in the winter months, and this concealer not only infuses healthy hydration upon application, but goes on to brighten and smooth my overall complexion. I grab for this concealer when I can’t be bothered for a full-face of foundation, and apply it from my undereyes to discoloration in my T-zone and on any sporadic blemishes that catch me by surprise. I love that it allows my natural freckles to shine through, and find that it locks in place for a full day of wear — even when I shed a tear or break a sweat. It blends like a dream, doesn’t look cakey, and is the backbone to the range of glowy or glam makeup looks I want to create.”

Tarte Shape Tape Radiant Concealer — Editor Testing Review

Two WWD Shop editors tested the Tarte Shape Tape Radiant Concealer for three months to determine its blendability, coverage, staying power, and overall skin finish effects. I always measure a concealer based on its capability to effectively even out the skin tone without the need for an extra layer of foundation, and the original Tarte Shape Tape Full-Coverage Concealer was always my gold standard for blurring my dark undereye circles, discoloration, and pesky spots. The Radiant formulation had a lot to live up to, but I was excited to explore its brightening capabilities, especially on my combination to dry skin.

The first thing I noticed as I swiped on the concealer was its immediate cooling sensation. It felt refreshing under my eyes, and applied just as creamy to the rest of my face as the original. However, I found that the Shape Tape Radiant formula had much more playtime for blending, as the full-coverage iteration tends to lock in place quickly — which is useful for blemish coverage or oily skin, but not so much for my dry patches. This also allows its accurate medium-coverage claims to be buildable, as I found it effortless to smooth out texture and discoloration and then go back in with an extra layer on more precise problem areas.

The Radiant formulation sets to a sheen-like glow, likely due to its extensive combination of hydrating ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid, vegan squalane, and seed oils, which is great for those who prefer a dewy finish or have dry skin. Tarte’s inclusion of vegan collagen, diamond powder, and mineral pigments also didn’t go unnoticed, as the formula instantly blurred my texture in a filter-like effect. Other concealers can make my skin appear flat, but I found that this one especially left my skin looking noticeably more healthy and plump, as well as flawless. With this product, I don’t have to lean on highlighters or setting sprays to bring life back to my face.

Emollient complexion products almost always separate on my skin, so I wasn’t surprised to see very minor creasing under my eyes when I tested this concealer without topping it powder. However, that’s a step I wouldn’t normally skip, and I discovered that I only needed a light dusting of setting powder to effectively lock the Radiant formula in place. Although this product has an ultra-hydrating feel, I believe oily skin types can still enjoy the lit-from-within glow that this product provides, as long as you combine it with a mattifying primer or a bit of powder around the T-zone.

Overall, I’d recommend this product to those seeking a skin care-enriched concealer that applies beautifully to all areas of the face. It looks exceptionally natural blended into the skin and allows my freckles to shine through, while still providing transformative, buildable, and lightweight coverage.

Is the Tarte Shape Tape Radiant Concealer Worth It?

In short, absolutely. The Tarte Shape Tape Radiant Concealer allows you to target problem areas with buildable control and skip full-face complexion products like foundation. A little goes a long way in terms of application, where I only need to dip the chubby doe foot applicator into the tube once to cover everything I need, so this concealer is primed to last you for many months to come. Its price point racks up to a comparatively expensive $31, however this reflects its prestige, skin care-infused ingredients that will improve your skin in the long run, therefore giving you a major bang for your buck.
