Tessa Virtue confirms she's engaged to Morgan Rielly: 'Canadian power couple'

Tessa Virtue is officially engaged.

The 33-year-old retired Canadian ice dancer revealed in a podcast released on Tuesday that she's engaged to Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Morgan Rielly, 28.

"Tessa's engaged to Morgan! I love that," Shantelle Bisson, host of "Without Losing Your Cool," cheered in the podcast's latest episode.

Virtue went on to explain she met her Vancouver-born partner through mutual friends.

While the duo has kept their relationship low-key for the past few years, the couple answered some speculation in March 2020 after going live together on an Instagram livestream hosted by Canadian band Arkells.

Later in the podcast episode, Virtue shared she wasn't always open when it came to relationships.

"I was very guarded for a long time, and I wouldn't give out my phone number, I wouldn't open up — I was very insular," she explained. "I think that's changed, though. I feel much more open now, and maybe that's just getting comfortable with who I am and what I want, and also being a good judge of character helps."

On New Year's Day, Virtue took to Instagram to share a black-and-white photo of herself walking beside Rielly. In the shot, the couple walked with their arms around each other's backs as they smiled at each other.

"So long 2022 ... you were a special one," Virtue captioned her post.

Fans celebrated with Virtue in the comments of her post, with many questioning who was in the photo.

"The happiness jumps out in this photo. Wishing you both the very bestest for 2023," one fan penned.

"Oh, what a beautiful pic!! Feeling the love!! Happy New Year, Tessa and Morgan! ... May 2023 bring you many blessings!" another added.

"Happy new year. Amazing photo of a beautiful couple. Wishing you all the happiness in the world," someone shared.

"Canadian power couple," one person chimed in, along with a heart eyes emoji.

"OMG," a fan wrote. "This photo is so beautiful! I would like a Ms. Tessa and Mr. Mo photoshoot, please."
