Bill Riales:
All right, well, don’t freak out, but termite swarms can be seen almost year-round here on the Gulf Coast.

Shamonee Baker:
And when they come by your house, you could have a problem. Joining us this morning to tell us what we need to know about termite season is the owner of E-3 Termite, Mike Adams. Thank you so much for joining us this morning. Thank you for having me. Absolutely. You brought a prop with you?

Mike Adams, Owner E3 Termite:
Yes, I did. Yes, I did. Let me explain. What is it? Termite swarming right now. Basically what that is is mating season. Okay. So what they’re doing a day coming up out of the ground and they’re trying to find a moisture source for formosans they can find a moisture source in your home. Okay. Rotted wood, leaking pipes, leaking roof, things like that. If they do find a moisture source in your home, they will build something like this. Okay.

Bill:
I think you mean they will build something and they’ll do it pretty quick.

Mike Adams:
Really quick. Like this when we’re done? Probably in a year. Oh, my God. Okay, so. But I mean, that’s a small one we pull. Much, much bigger than that. Wow. So above-ground infestation is a bad problem around here.

Bill:
So what do you do when you realize you have a termite infestation?

Mike Adams:
Give us a call, quick in. We’ll come out, assess the situation, determine what needs to take place and get rid of it.

Bill:
And how do you prevent termites from developing in your house in the first place?

Mike Adams:
Well, the main thing, you want to make sure you get the proper treatment. Okay. Come out on home, green. Bring up a plan for you on how to treat it. There are many different ways to treat a home many different constructions, and we will come at the end and draw up a plan for your home, treat it, and put it under a bond to cover future damage.

Shamonee:
Because there are attractive things like light and water. And I know Bill was saying earlier he has a pool and so

Bill:
I find him in the pool every year. This time of year you’ll find him laying in the pool.

Mike Adams:
This time of year, live in the darkness. Just turn your lights out for about another hour. They’re coming early this year. They usually come around Mother’s Day. And the weird thing this year you have the native subterranean, and with the Formosans at the same time, we rarely have that. But you have a native during the day and a formosans that night. So another month stay in the dark.

Bill:
And the Formosans we keep. We’ve heard a lot about those in the past few years. Those are the really very aggressive.

Mike Adams:
They’re bad. They’re really bad. They can come and they can do like I say, this was done in the year and it would probably $10,000 in damage. Wow. Okay. So that can work pretty quick.

Shamonee:
Now, you will also be at the Gulf Coast Home and Outdoor Expo, which is happening tomorrow from nine until three at the Daphne Civic Center. So if you have any questions, he’s your man. You’ve got all the information.

Mike Adams:
And we’re also doing special pricing on our really special pricing on our pest control service on the show only.
