With Tenet , Christopher Nolan Returns to Time-Bending Action

We finally have our first real look at Christopher Nolan's Tenet and, yep, that's a Nolan movie all right! Trains, car chases, and some weird time-going-backwards malarky—it's all there, and it looks great, if mysterious at this point in the game.

At present, very little is known about Nolan's new movie about "international espionage" which, according to the director, was shot in seven countries. BlacKkKlansman breakout John David Washington plays a man who's seemingly survived some kind of near-death (or actual death?) experience, and is let in on some secrets about the world which cause... time to go backwards sometimes, it seems! So he can stop World War Three? Look, I didn't write it. All I know is that shot of the car un-crashing made me gasp.

Joining Washington are Robert Pattinson, Clemence Posey, Widows star Elizabeth Debicki, alongside known Nolan collaborators Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh. Pattinson isn't one to sign onto high-profile mega-blockbusters willy nilly, so that alone has me intrigued.

It's vintage Christopher Nolan to release a trailer that, if anything, makes his next film seem more confusing, but that's what we've come to expect from the mercurial filmmaker anyway. Our questions will be answered (some of them, at least) when Tenet hits theaters on July 17, 2020.
