Teenager infuriated after learning about dad’s new girlfriend: ‘We are quite literally dating the same age group’
An 18-year-old girl is furious with her 38-year-old father for dating a 22-year-old.
Her father has been spending more money than he has on his new girlfriend of just two weeks. She thinks the age difference is “gross” and that her dad isn’t making the best decisions. The teenager took to Reddit’s “Relationship Advice” forum for advice.

“My father is not my biological father, but he stepped in and claimed me as his own child,” she explained. “He and my mom broke up when I was 4 or 5. He hasn’t really dated anybody since I was 7 or 8. His new girlfriend started working at his job maybe two months ago, and they’ve been officially together for two weeks.
“We went to different school districts, but I was in my first year of high school when she was in her last. When I was born, my dad was 20, and she was turning 4. So gross. He has spent over $200 on her just in the last two weeks of them dating, between flowers and jewelry and other random stuff. He’s saying she’ll be moved in by winter, roughly eight months away, even though he just met her.”

The teenager feels like the dad has his priorities wrong because of the relationship.
“What the hell am I supposed to do?” she said. “I hate being at my own house now because I don’t want to have to meet her, let alone interact with her. We also don’t have the finances to have him spend $100 a week on someone he barely knows. We haven’t had a working oven for two years because we can’t afford it.
“I’m not mad [that] my dad is in a relationship. I would be happy for him if she was even five years older. My own boyfriend is turning 20. We are quite literally dating the same age group. I don’t like her constantly being here because it makes me feel unwelcome, especially because he’s been asking me to find other places to be for whole weekends.”
“This is disgusting and weird,” a user commented.
“This is disgusting, and such a huge age gap is just wrong,” another said.
“Dudes like your dad who date very young women don’t care about right or wrong. He isn’t gonna change,” a person wrote.
