Teen Wolf Heartthrobs Hit Rochas

Stranger Things may be the trendiest TV show in fashion (we see you, Nicolas Ghesquiere!), but apparently, the Rochas team prefers Teen Wolf. Their show’s front row boasted two of its vulpine stars, Tyler Hoechlin (aka Derek Hale) and Ian Bohen (aka Peter Hale) sandwiched between model Daphne Groeneveld and singer Soko.

If you are age 12—19, you’re probably thinking “OMG ILY!”

If you are older than that, you’re probably thinking “Huh?”

Since I was thinking both, pretty much at the same time, I decided to investigate. Fortunately, the wolf pack was game for some questions…

You’re MTV mainstays who live in LA. How did you end up at Rochas?

IAN BOHEN: It’s Ro-SHAYZE, please.

It’s not, though.

IAN: Okay. I trust you. Our friends said, “This is going to be a great show, come by.” We had to come to Europe for work—not for Teen Wolf, it’s not like “Another teen werewolf in London,” sorry—but after, we figured, why not make it a vacation?

Why come to a fashion show? Is it your first time?

TYLER HOECHLIN: I’ve been to a few, but I’m not an expert! Please don’t quote me as an expert!

IAN: I’ve been to a few, too, and I think the difference between Fashion Week in New York and fashion week in Paris is that [here], you want to see people who have style-style. Like real style. You come to Europe, and you come to Paris and you’ll see real style. And no offense to New York. People in New York think they know how to dress, but they have no idea. Wait, I don’t mean you

I’m not offended! I swear. Keep going.

IAN: I mean, if you see a woman walking to get coffee in the middle of the day here, she’s doing it with a Hermes scarf. It’s like elegance on a whole other level. And I love to see that.

TYLER: All in all, it’s a production. It’s a show. [Being actors], we can appreciate the work that goes into putting on a great show. As far as the fashion goes, I am not a fashon expert. I cannot critique the pieces individually. But it’s an art like everything else. It requires time and effort to have an idea, and then actually bring it to life. So I appreciate it as art and because of the work behind it, even if I’m not an expert.

IAN: I like his answer. That was a qualified answer. I would like to add that fashion shows are great for people watching.

People watching or model watching? You guys are seated next to Daphne Groeneveld.

IAN: No, not model watching. I’ve got a girl back home. I don’t need another one. I probably couldn’t handle two. But it’s just fun… okay, wait, in retrospect, I could handle two…

Going to red carpet events is part of your job, and you often bring dates. Do you give opinions to your girlfriends about what to wear?

TYLER: NO. In the past, I have had an opinion, and I have learned that having an opinion on your girlfriend’s fashion choices is a big mistake. So usually I try not to anymore.

As Gen-Z’s most famous werewolves, you’re covered in fur on TV. Do you have a position on wearing fur in real life?

TYLER: I don’t have a firm enough opinion to make a statement at this point. [Laughing.] Wow, that was the most politically correct answer I could make!

IAN: If we shed the fur ourselves, on set, as werewolves, and you want to make a coat out of it, by all means.

Are there Teen Wolf fans in Paris?

TYLER: Yeah. At times it’s a little scary and overwhelming. True story, we got chased in a cab. Some girls hired a car to tail us out of our hotel. We had to say to the driver the other day, “Can you please lose that van? We’re not kidding.”

IAN: It was actually kind of scary. Running lights. Pulling U-turns. It felt like a James Bond movie.

In March, your co-star, Dylan O’Brien, was seriously injured on the set of Maze Runner. How’s he doing now?

TYLER: He’s great! I’ve seen him somewhat recently. He’s fantastic. He’s back to work. He’s doing well.
