Teen Vogue Had The Perfect Sweet 16 And Everything Was Pink

This year, Teen Vogue turns sixteen, and for the month of June we’ve been celebrating. From our Sweet 16 cover star, Storm Reid to our special series of stories about the ups and downs of turning 16. And of course, we had to throw a party, but not just any party— think, my Super Sweet 16.

On Wednesday, we threw the ultimate Sweet 16 party in Austin, Texas with Lightbox Jewelry to celebrate this huge milestone with our Teen Vogue readers. The venue was all pink, of course; from the festive sequins and fluffy feathered pillows to the balloon arches that could be found at almost every corner. Why Austin? Our Editor in Chief, Lindsay Peoples Wagner told Good Day Austin, “I’m originally from the Midwest and [when I got this position] I really wanted to do more things in smaller cities, so Austin was on my list of places I’ve never been and I really wanted to come and celebrate here with some of our fans and readers.” It was sweltering hot, but that couldn’t take away from the fun we had all night.

The moment our guests entered they were greeted with pink mocktails decorated with strawberries to sip on as they walked down our pink carpet and glanced at all of Teen Vogue’s covers from February’s Young Hollywood cover to the most recent Storm Reid cover. Among our guests were Isabela Monor, who’s starring in the upcoming Dora and The Lost City Of Gold movie. She chatted with guests and got in on all of the fun with us rocking the neon green slip dress of our dreams. Other fans of Teen Vogue partied with their friends all night while chatting with our Editor in Chief and making new friends. One partygoer said, “I’ve been reading Teen Vogue my whole life, this is like a dream come true.”

We turned up with DJ CASS&RA all night dancing to tunes like Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts” and Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings”, and ended the night singing along to Beyoncé’s “Before I Let Go” cover aka this summer’s anthem. In between dancing, our guests munched on cotton candy (in 4 different flavors) outside and as they headed inside they stormed the candy bar. We had just about every pink candy you could think of: starbursts, crystal rock lollipops, gumballs, swedish fish, and even chocolate covered pretzels. Safe to say the majority of us left with a sugar rush, but all in celebration of Teen Vogue, right? No complaints here!

No Sweet 16 celebration is complete without a cake. Sara Lauren Hinojosa of Honey Suckle Tea Time baked us a four-tier cake emblazoned with purple bows, swirl lollipops, a dazzling “16” topper. Sparklers went off inside the cake as Lindsay thanked guests and longtime fans of the brand for coming out to celebrate with us.

There was an overload of sweets, but for the girls and guys who prefer to celebrate with diamonds, we had something for them as well. Lightbox Jewelry had 2 displays of their lab-grown diamonds out for guests to browse and try on, because after all diamonds are a girl’s best friend, right? There was also a fun photo moment with Lightbox’s “Find Your Light” mirror where fans could try on jewelry and pose in the mirror. Who wouldn’t want to pose for their Instagram draped in affordable diamonds?!

There was also had a photo booth filled with crowns, feather boas, and party favors for readers to pose with in front of a pink, blue, and silver metallic fringe curtain. There was a line all night to get in on this fun.
