Teen transforms thrifted wedding dress into stunning pink prom dress: ‘I audibly gasped’

A teen decided to get thrifty — and crafty — when it came time to get ready for her senior prom, and TikTokers cannot believe the “before” and “after” results.
TikToker Megan Johnson (@therealmeganjohnson) not only scored an incredible thrift store find, she also gained TikTok fame when the uploaded her DIY dress transformation, garnering over 18.6 million views, 2.7 million likes and 4,400 comments.
While not all thrifting experiences are as successful as Megan’s — as in the case of this single mom who revealed the reason why she’d never step foot in a Goodwill again — her DIY dye job might just inspire teens to go secondhand for their own prom fashions.
Megan’s video began with a giant tub full of boiling water, all in preparation for her Rit dye job.
In addition to dyeing the thrifted dress herself, Megan also tailored it herself, proving she’s a young woman of many talents.
After admiring her lovely vintage wedding dress one more time, Megan dunked the dress in the pink-hued water and stirred it with a mop.
Her video ends with an abrupt glimpse at the final result — but thankfully, she followed up the next day with a video of her wearing it.
Hopping on the “Ceilings” trend, Megan donned the fluffy pink masterpiece and dashed through an open field — much to the delight of TikTokers everywhere.
