Teen Phenom Shares POV Of Crash In Guatemala Downhill Race

Asa Vermette is perhaps the most exciting up-and-coming story in mountain biking. Though he is only 16 and has not raced in any World Cup competition, Vermette has been beating pros at continental downhill races.

The electric teenager recently took a trip to Central America to race in the Guatemala Open Downhill. Unfortunately, Asa had a pretty hard crash in the race. Watch the POV below.

In this video, Asa was charging down the rough course when he got stacked up in a compression. The forces caused him to stack up and blow up over the berm in a large crash. The second slide shows a spectator’s video, which gives a better angle of the crash. Thankfully Asa was okay.

Asa Vermette is a 16-year-old pro from Colorado who rides for Neko Mulally’s Frameworks Racing project. Vermette burst onto the scene with a highly successful 2023 campaign in which he beat pros at multiple events. Perhaps his best result was a second place at the US Open in Killington VT.
