Season 1: AFC Richmond loses. Season 2: AFC Richmond makes it back up. Season 3: AFC Richmond does what it needs to do. It's been said for almost the entire duration of its run that Ted Lasso was planned as a three-season arc, and, now that Season 3 has arrived, it seems like this really could be the end for Ted, Roy, Jamie, Keeley, Rebecca, Higgins, Nate, and the rest of the gang. So maybe we need to enjoy the good vibes of TV's most feel-good show more than ever before. Maybe.

Jason Sudeikis (who stars as Ted Lasso and also co-created and co-writes the show) has kind of talked out of both sides of his mouth on that front. While he's admitted that the show was always planned with a three-season story arc in mind, he hasn't explicitly said that the show will be coming to an end. But he seems to kind of be keeping his options open. “This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell, that we were hoping to tell, that we loved to tell," he told Deadline in an interview. "Maybe by May 31, once all 12 episodes of the season [have been released], they’re like, ‘Man, you know what, we get it, we’re fine. We don’t need anymore, we got it.’ But until that time comes, I will appreciate the curiosity beyond what we’ve come up with so far.”

Sounds like things are up in the air. Our guess? Season 3 will wrap up the Ted Lasso story as we know it, but if the demand is there, Sudeikis and the rest of the gang are willing to start something new. Plus, you know, Apple TV+ probably wouldn't mind keeping their most popular show going and winning a few more Emmys for good measure.

But until that time, we're ready for whatever is going to happen with AFC Richmond as they make their grand return to the English Premier League, and as Ted gets ready to settle his problems with Nate—now ostensibly the show's villain, as the gray-haired head coach of Rupert's new team: West Ham United.
