On May 8, the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) found a teary-eyed dog tied to a pole in front of their facility. The pup was accompanied by a note calling her a “good puppy.” The note also had other specifics about the canine. Unfortunately, the Cane Corso Mastiff Pit Bull mix isn’t the only one facing this predicament. Pennsylvania SPCA noted that they have found several animals in a similar manner over the past year.

Teary-eyed dog finds forever home after being abandoned with a note

Last week, Pennsylvania SPCA discovered a 5-month-old pup abandoned in front of their facility. The dog’s eye discharge made it seem like she was crying, especially since she was terrified. She was abandoned with a note containing all her specifics, which read, “Cane Corso – pit mastiff. Born 12-15-23. Good Puppy. House Broken. Don’t Have A Name,” as per People.

Pennsylvania SPCA’s Gillian Kocher stated that the teary-eyed dog was healthy but terrified and nervous. Moreover, she had a “withdrawn body language” and a “tucked tail,” Kocher added. Even when she was allowed to leave her kennel, the pup wouldn’t walk around, and the staff had to carry her. This made her situation all the more heartbreaking for staff members.

The canine has been named Minerva by the SPCA. Furthermore, she has already been adopted and found a new home a few days after she was put up for adoption on May 10. While Pennsylvania SPCA is happy for her, they noted that animal abandonment has increased. Moreover, they have noticed a significant fall in the number of adoptions.

With more abandoned animals and fewer adoptions, it is no surprise that shelters around the United States face overcrowding issues. Kocher noted that overcapacity shelters are having difficulty placing animals and encouraged more people to adopt. Minerva found a loving home, and other adoptable shelter animals deserve the same.
