Tearful Vinnie Jones discusses late wife Tanya on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories
Vinnie Jones has spoken about his late wife during an appearance on Piers Morgan‘s Life Stories, describing her as a “beautiful person”.
On 6 July 2019, Jones’s wife, Tanya Terry, passed away in Los Angeles at the age of 53 following a long illness.
The couple had been married since 1994, each with a child from previous relationships.
Jones has spoken previously about the impact Tanya’s death had on him, revealing in October 2019 that Tanya had written a letter telling her family not to grieve her death.
On Saturday 5 September, the former professional footballer is appearing on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, a decade after his first appearance on the show.
In a clip of the new episode shared prior to its airing on ITV at 10pm, Morgan showed Jones some footage from his previous appearance on the programme.
“When we last spoke for Life Stories 10 years ago, Tanya was here, she was in the front row,” Morgan said to Jones.
In the extract from the old episode, Jones discussed how some people are “meant to be married”, while Tanya watched on from the front row.
After watching the clip, Morgan asked Jones whether it was “unbearable” to see the footage of his late wife.
“No, I suppose it’s probably the memories more than anything. Such beautiful person, Piers,” the 55-year-old said.
During the latest episode, Morgan asked Jones what he missed most about his late partner, who he first met in early adolescence.
“Just the trampoline of being there for me,” he said.
“Yeah, I’d let her down so many times, but she’d catch me. And it was so much, many times, I said to her once, ‘It was like catching a falling star.’ She never once, Piers, would not put her arms out and catch me, every time.”
Jones added that during an early stage of his relationship, when asked Tanya what he wanted, he asked to simply be loved “unconditionally”.
“I said, Just love me unconditionally,’ and that was her promise,” he stated.
Jones recently revealed that he has been seeing a therapist following the death of his wife, explaining that he sought out professional help after “shutting himself off” from loved ones.
“I’m seeing someone three times a week. I thought I was doing okay, and then the anniversaries of Tan’s death and our daughter Kaley’s birthday were approaching and it was like somebody just drained the life out of me,” he told The Sun.
