A Team of Palace Aides Has Been Tasked With Stopping Netflix if They Try to Film at the Queen’s Jubilee

Duchess Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are showing their support for Harry’s grandmother the Queen by attending her upcoming Platinum Jubilee this summer, and naturally, palace aides (and Prince William) are fully spiraling. Mostly because there’s concern that the couple could be accompanied by Netflix cameras. (Reminder: They have a major deal with the streaming giant.)

According to The Sun, a palace team has been tasked with stopping filmmakers from attempting to gain access to the Jubilee, with a source saying, “A team of Palace aides will be on standby to keep a very close eye on the crew, and act as minders if needs be.”

While Netflix cameras won’t be allowed inside Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle, apparently, there’s concern that a film crew could follow the couple to non-palace locations like St Paul’s Cathedral and “shadow the Sussexes in VIP areas at public events.”

All this concern could be for nothing, though, because Harry and Meghan haven’t given any indication that they’re bringing cameras to the Jubilee. And the only statement they have put out (via a spokesperson) makes it clear they are there for the Queen: “Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are excited and honored to attend the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this June with their children.”

Netflix drama aside, the Sussexes won’t be participating in the royals’ balcony appearance at the Jubilee, which will feature only “working” members of the family.

“The Queen will have thought very carefully about the lineup and the announcement,” a source said. “The celebrations are to mark her 70 years of service, so it seemed right that the balcony appearance is restricted to those currently serving the Queen. And while the timing of Harry and Meghan’s statement raised eyebrows, it also came after some discussions between Charles and his son. The Prince of Wales told Harry, in an encouraging way, he felt they should be there to honor The Queen.”
