Red Bull Cascade, the freeski competition from the mind of the legendary Bobby Brown, concluded on Saturday, March 30 at Solitude, UT, after two days of hucking, flairing, and slashing (at least on day 2).

Although finals day saw 4 fresh inches of powder at the resort, the bracket-style contest continued between four teams and skiers threw down on the winding, top-to-bottom course, hitting natural features and huge airs alike.

In the end, Team Mando, made up of Jed Blue Waters, Colby Stevenson, Rell Harwood, and Bobby Brown himself, took first place on the podium.

Siblings Birk and Svea Irving took home the Rider’s Choice Awards as the top skiers over the course of the two days, respectively.

The course, designed to highlight unique styles and bring out creativity from both park and big-mountain-oriented skiers, did not disappoint. Bobby called out Birk and Svea Irving for doing exactly that.

“These past few days of the contest have seen some of the most creative skiing of the season,” said event visionary Bobby Brown. “Birk and Svea truly put down runs that complemented their styles and took advantage of the course design.”

The park was built by a special team of renowned park builders, led by Charles Beckinsale. Sammy at The Pinecone Project also helped efforts to create a unique course and build up the event at Solitude.

Each run was judged on a points system based on Creativity, Speed, Choice of Line, Difficulty, and Energy (Style/Flair). The goal was to rack up the most points on the “CSCDE” system, with a total of 50 points possible per run.

Although no two skiers approached the course the same way, there was consistency in the size of the airs--everyone threw down, especially on the last feature, the crowd pleaser.

Due to the weather (and snow mucking up the course, hindering the chance to gain speed for tricks) there was no consolation round.

That didn't stop athletes from sending it, though. Watch below.

The final results are below.

Svea Irving, one of the two Riders Choice winners, said, “this was truly such a special event. Having so many diverse athletes from so many backgrounds, and to do it in a team format where we can put together a plan as one team is something that is totally unique to this event and I really am just so grateful to Bobby for bringing us all together."

Bobby indeed looked stoked the entire weekend, and his attitude was infectious. Everyone was there because they wanted to be, not because their sponsors told them to or because they needed points for a tour.
