Teacher and classmates go all out to show Black students support during Black History Month

The midway point of Black History Month (BHM) is here, but the first half of the month has been an eventful one.

When BHM rolls around, it’s typical to see people go out of their way to celebrate Black history. This one teacher went above and beyond to celebrate Black History Month for her student.

“Hey teacher i have this idea for a tiktok her : alright bet,” said @linclaro under this TikTok.

“Bless her soul,” replied @gleekym.

This video is just one of many in this trend, one in which Black creators have white people wait on them hand and foot — jokingly, of course. Videos in this trend typically use the song “Stand Up” by Cynthia Erivo from the 2019 Harriet Tubman biopic Harriet. However, because the same idea has been used with different songs in the background, the origins of the meme are tough to track down.

“We are all in this together,” said @912ed in the comments.

Many of these videos are clearly staged. However, in some cases, the non-Black participant takes the initiative to show respect for their Black classmates — which may catch them off guard.

“I am WHEEZING,” said @jilliandemiliaaa.

On top of people in these schools showing how well they are being treated, some students take this opportunity to show appreciation for their favorite allies.

TikToker @mama_mia52 and her friend started a series highlighting an ally of the day. Each day they decide who’s been the ally of the day and interview them.

“Yall at the end of the month yall gotta make a ‘bhm ally of the month,’” replied @jinsoulfromloona.

Students are finding creative ways to celebrate Black History Month. Whether it be from those in authority or classmates, the younger generation is getting are making sure the Black people in their lives get the recognition they deserve.
