Fans are speculating that Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn broke up thanks to lyrics on her new album Folklore.
Taylor says the album is largely stories from her imagination, just saying!
Taylor Swift just dropped her new album Folklore, and naturally, everyone is reading into literally everything. Like, Swifties have already discovered that Taylor may have secretly revealed the name of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ new baby—sh*t is getting real. But! There’s also a whole group of Tay fans who are very concerned that her new lyrics imply she and Joe Alwyn split, thanks to many of the songs dealing with heartbreak.

Okay, here’s the thing though. While a lot of Taylor Swift’s music is about her own life experiences, she dropped a note on Instagram explaining that Folklore is specifically based on her imagination. Read the full note below, but her Insta caption alone should make you feel better:
“In isolation my imagination has run wild and this album is the result, a collection of songs and stories that flowed like a stream of consciousness. Picking up a pen was my way of escaping into fantasy, history, and memory.”
In other words, these breakup lyrics probably aren’t about Joe. Moving on!
